Frame
Data and Trace.
A
new tickbox Retrace has been added for library frames. When a order
is placed for one of the frames marked as such then a message will be
shown to indicate that the frame trace quality is not reliable for
glazing.
It
is also easier to assign a trace back to the library shape in the
frame data management screen.

Emailing Draft.
When
orders are placed into drafts, it is now possible to email the
customer about the draft.
Email Templates.
A
new template has been added for specifying the email layout from view
orders. The template management screen is now called from the
settings configuration.

In Annapurna / View Job, the comments can now be viewed in Wordpad so that they can be printed or exported easily to email. Wordpad is used so as to retain the colours and other formatting in the comments. There is a link beside the button to expand / contract the comments view to do this.

Preventing unsuitable materials being used for Rimless lenses.
Preventing
unsuitable materials being used for Rimless lenses.
It is common request received that some materials are prevented from being used for rimless lenses.
To achieve this, there is a new setting entry to allow the material / index to be defined. The material index is defined as O1555 or O1740 where O = Organic/Plastic and 1555 = 1.555 index. Multiple entries are made with the semi-colon separator. For example O1555;O1556 will block both 1.55 and 1556 index.

Kalahari Oval calculation.
Kalahari
Oval calculation.
The oval calculation has had some filters added. It is possible to prevent ovals from being calculated on minus power lenses and it is also possible to prevent ovals from being calculated on some materials which are more prone to flaking, pressure with thin edges.

Kalahari – Minimum Crib Edge.
Kalahari
– Minimum Crib Edge.
It is now possible to set a minimum thickness on the oval calculated. This is useful for polishers where a sharp edge is to be avoided.
When Kalahari calculates the oval, the oval has to run between the Knife edge / Blank size (whichever is smaller) and the shape. In some cases, this is not possible so then a trepan circle is used which is the minimum size uncut (MSU) diameter plus an allowance.
In order to achieve a minimum crib edge the Knife diameter calculation has been altered to be the diameter at the necessary minimum thickness. If the minimum thickness at the new knife diameter is less than the necessary minimum thickness then an oval is not possible. If it is then a search is made for a suitable oval which again may not be possible as the margin between the shape and the knife diameter has been reduced.
Note that lens thickness is not increased. The lens thickness remains optimised to the shape. The use of a minimum crib edge will reduce the number of ovals calculated and hence the number of trepan circles will increase.
If the trepan circle exceeds the minimum knife diameter then a warning is given and the lens thickness can be increased for this.

Logout Time
t
is important that Annapurna is closed when not in use as the
connection to the database server will timeout after a number of
hours. This usually shows as a problem in the following morning when
users try to continue with the program.
In order to reduce the potential problems that this could cause, users can now be given a logout time in the user configuration. When the logout time is reached then the time of the last keystroke activity is checked. If this was not in the last five minutes then Annapurna will seek to close down the screens gracefully.
Typically, it is expected that this will be set to 20:00 or similar so that all users are logged off when the back up is made overnight by the Santiago program.
Happy New Year 2015
A Happy New Year for 2015.
The end of 2014 was rather hectic and there are a large number of updates to be reported on which will be described over the next few days.
